It’s hard to say why the air that comes off of this small Honeywell fan seems so cold – it’s probably down to the super-efficient TurboForce blade design, but the HT-904 definitely cools much more powerfully and effectively than its size – or price – would indicate.

A nicely made but very inexpensive fan, the TurboForce is just what we’d expect from Honeywell, and it is also remarkably quiet in operation.

Especially nice are the 3 optimal speeds and the fully pivoting fan head, which make tailoring your comfort – as well as supporting air conditioning units (and thus saving money on utilities) easy and effective.

More powerful than some of the much larger box fans I’ve tried from other companies, the Pelonis is well under 2 feet tall, and keeps your space nice and cold mainly because of the sheer amount of air it moves – “Full-Force Circulation,” as they say.

A wonderful fan from a great company, the Lasko high velocity pro utility fan sounds very serious and industrial and all, but the cold air it blasts out is just delightful!

Ok, it’s not the prettiest fan in the world – it’s not the ugliest either, but may well be closer to that end of the spectrum. The design is quite industrial, with a shape and configuration that are all about moving the maximum amount of air possible.

And because of that, this is a fan fan that blows cold air like AC units will. Well, almost – the air is much colder than you’d expect, and colder than other fan designs and other products in this price range.

This is an industrial fan in all of the best ways. Seriously overbuilt, the Lasko will last for years and offer completely trouble-free operation the whole time. The case is rugged and strong, the controls are simple and mechanical, there is a 3 prong safety plug and two on-board 3 prong outlets, and the head pivots up and down for maximum versatility in cooling lots of different spaces.

A great choice for blowing cold air into a workshop, shed or garage, a greenhouse, an outdoor covered patio, a basement or the like, this is also a really good choice for normal in-home use – again, if you can get beyond looks.

The Lasko U12104 high velocity pro utility fan is a very, very powerful fan for its size, and for the money, and will keep you super-cold all the time – my top choice for a tough working fan that blows really cold air!

Simple Deluxe 20 Inch 3-Speed High Velocity Metal Industrial Floor Fan

Another ugly fan that moves cold air beautifully, the Simple Deluxe 20 inch floor fan is almost frighteningly powerful, and as a result moves a lot of refreshingly cold air.

Ok, it’s not really ugly – and in fact, for a fan of this type, the Simple Deluxe is one of the nicest looking I’ve found, and especially so because of its premium finish and high quality materials.

But more importantly this is a seriously solid and well made industrial grade fan, that is quiet and smooth running, very stable and solid, built to last for a long, long time and designed to do one thing only – move tons of cold air.

Features are minimal but very well selected – 3 ideal speeds, a basic, reliable mechanical switch, a heavy duty 3 prong power cord, and a nicely pivoting head for optimal  air flow in a variety of different spaces and applications.

Again, like the Lasko above, this may not be the prettiest addition to your home, but while it is kind of designed more for workshops, garages and other working environments, we should keep in mind that the Simple Deluxe moves a lot of cold air, and is fantastic for really bringing temperature down in any room of the house – even larger rooms and open spaces.

For its quality, the Simple Deluxe 20 inch high velocity floor fan is an exceptional value, but when you consider the money it can save you on utilities, it just gets better and better!

Antarctic Star 360°Oscillating 39” Tower Fan with 24H Timer & Remote

This new-classic pivoting tower fan configuration is what a lot of us associate with the best cold air fans, and the Antarctic Star is one of the best examples you can find – really, almost startlingly cold air from a sleek and slender design.

A beautifully made fan, the Antarctic Star is also just a beautiful fan – it won’t move quite as much air as the two more industrial choices just above, but it is a much, much prettier unit, and would make a lovely addition to pretty much any room.

The Antarctic Star pivoting tower fan is also more cleverly designed, and really made for home use, with a nice remote control that nestles on top of the tower, a clear and easy to read LCD display, 3 wind modes and 9 speeds, a 24 hour timer and 360 degree oscillation – overall about as advanced and feature-rich as it gets!

But the main reason I love it, and the main reason it made our list, is that the Antarctic Star pivoting tower fan moves a lot of cold air, and makes you and your home much cooler. It’s not the cheapest fan here, but IMHO it is the best value, and a really great choice!

My Favorite Cold Air Fan

Vornado NGT33DC Energy Smart Tower Air Circulator Fan with Variable Speed, 33″

Ok, I have to admit it – I call the lovely Antarctic Star tower fan above the best value fan for blowing cold air, and the stupendous Dyson below the best overall, and undoubtedly both are true, but this Vornado is absolutely my favorite cold air fan.

For one thing, I think Vornado makes overall the most consistently excellent lineup of fans on the market today – if ever a company really understood fans, and comfort, it’s Vornado!

But mostly I just love the way the Vornado 33 inch tower fan looks, feels and works.

The Vornado is an elegant product, with a premium look and obviously very high quality in every way, and the quiet, non-oscillating operation is just brilliant – the design of the fan and its louvers ensures whole-room air circulation without the fan pivoting.

And while 99 discrete speed settings may seem a bit much, it is amazing how satisfying it actually is, and how you can get just the right setting so easily. This, in combination with its non-pivoting design, and especially the high quality copper brushless motor, make the Vornado tower fan an extremely energy efficient product – and that’s not even factoring in the energy it saves you with its full-room air flow and the resulting reduction in utility bills.

Everything about the Vornado 33 inch tower fan says quality, effectiveness and beauty, and it is one of the best and most satisfying fans on the market today – and one that, it should be said, seems to put out exceptionally cold air – easily my favorite, and highly recommended!

Best Stand Fan for Cold Air

Hurricane 20 Inch Pro Series Heavy Duty Metal Stand Fan

I noticed that pretty much every other buyer’s guide for the best fans for cold air include the admittedly nice Rowenta VU5670 Turbo Silence Oscillating Fan, which I also think is a very good fan, and can easily recommend.

But for a tiny bit more money, I actually think the Hurricane 20 inch stand fan is a better unit, which moves more and colder air than the Rowenta.

No, it’s not as sophisticated as the Rowenta, which has a great control panel and a nice remote, and a cool, kind of space-agey appearance. In fact, the Hurricane can boast a switch for turning it on and off and controlling the 3 speeds and, well, that’s about it!

But the Hurricane does move a lot more air – really a lot more – than the Rowenta, and so the air feels a lot colder and more refreshing. It is also a very well made, essentially industrial quality unit, with an ultra-stable base, quiet and smooth running, and nice, useful adjustability.

And while it doesn’t have the fancy angled control panel – just basic but reliable mechanical switches – the Hurricane does have a beautiful look, thanks mostly to the high quality of the materials and the well done powder coated finish.

So if you want a great fan that moves a lot of cold air and has a bit of sophistication, the Rowenta really is a great choice, but if you want maximum cold air flow, in a better built, more stable and quieter fan, this Hurricane adjustable Pro Series stand fan is a fantastic choice.

I also love, and highly recommend, their 20 Inch Floor Fan and 20 Inch Wall-Mount Fan from the same line.

Great Dyson Alternative

Ultty Bladeless Tower Fan and Air Purifier with Remote & 8H Timer

It’s possible that Dyson is responsible for the current craze for cold air fans (well, Dyson along with, you know, summer…). Their incredibly – but pricey – bladeless designs really do seem to blow colder air than almost anything else – strikingly, delightfully cold air.

Plus, the fans themselves are just plain neato!

Luckily, the same amazing bladeless technology, the same highly effective air purification and the same cold air can be found in a significantly less expensive fan from Ultty.

They don’t call their bladeless air movement an “Air Multiplier” like Dyson does, but it seems to work in exactly the same way, and move a similarly large amount of strikingly cold air – maybe not quite as much, and maybe not quite as cool, but very comparable, and for hundreds of dollars less.

The Ultty also has a H 13 HEPA air purifying filter with an additional carbon layer, like the Dyson, and has 3 wind modes, 9 speeds, a nice LCD display and a really useful remote, and an 8 hour shutoff timer.

Dyson still has the slight edge on performance, and on cool factor – not to mention cold factor – but the Ultty bladeless fan is much less expensive, and very close in every regard – a sleek, beautiful and fascinating fan that really moves cold air throughout the room.

I’m going to say right up front that the Dyson Pure Cool Link TP04 is the most amazing, coolest, most fascinating fan I’ve seen in a long, long time, and also the fan that seems to blow the coldest air.

Dyson’s proprietary Air Multiplier technology makes for a fan that is strikingly beautiful and elegant, and that runs almost silently – and one that puts out a lot of cold air.

It’s kind of funny that Dyson concentrates more on the TP04’s class-leading air purification qualities (and it is as sophisticated and effective as it gets in this regard) but so many people seem to love it for that cold air flow, and how nicely that air circulates throughout even larger spaces.

Let’s set aside the amazing and interesting technology, the WiFi connectivity and Siri/Alexa/Google Assistant compatibility, the excellent phone app, the programmability and customization, the exceptionally effective air purifier and its active, intelligent air monitoring, and everything else that makes the TP04 one of the most advanced and excellent consumer electronics products on the planet, and just focus on its ability to move cold air.

And yeah, it’s still the best of the best – simply based on the coldness of air, and how beautifully it circulates, the Dyson TP04 is clearly the top choice on this list of best fans for blowing cold air in 2023.

Effective, healthful, beautifully made, reliable, incredibly sophisticated and perfectly designed – really, if you can afford and justify the price, don’t hesitate – believe me, there are a lot of fans that are even more expensive, and they don’t come close!

If you can’t quite afford it, however, but still want a Dyson, you might consider the smaller and slightly less powerful (but no less advanced) Dyson TP01.

Also worth noting are my clear choices for the best fan that blows cold and hot air, the respectively super-premium and somewhat-budget-premium Dyson HP04 and Dyson HP01.

Conclusion: Which is the Best Fan that Blows Cold Air for You?

Though we just talked about it, I will say here one more time, for the record, that the best fan that blows cold air is the Dyson TP04 – or, as a “budget” alternative, their smaller TP01. In fact, they are quite probably the best fans on the market today period.

That said, there are other, more mundane ways of blowing really cold air than Dyson’s Air Multiplier system – including the concentrated and highly efficient stream of air that comes from superior tower fans like the Antarctic Star, or my personal favorite, the Vornado Energy Smart Tower.

Or you can choose instead to feel air that is bracingly cold by simply moving as much air as possible, like with the powerful but affordable Lasko High Velocity Utility Fan or even the more domesticated Pelonis 3-Speed Box Fan. 

These and the other choices on my buyer’s guide to best cold air fans really do seem to move air that’s colder than other fans, and can also be counted on to be quiet, smartly designed and highly usable, well made and reliable.
