I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say cleaning a tower fan is not high on your list of ways you want to spend your time.
Well, it turns out it isn’t going to take all that much time and the process is very simple and easy.
In this article, I’m going to show you how to clean a Lasko tower fan and also provide some tips on what NOT to do.
Let’s jump into it!
How to clean a Lasko tower fan
Cleaning the grill.
The grill is the parts of the tower fan that get the dirtiest and are the most important part to keep clean.
Before we start we will need a couple of things first.
A vacuum cleaner and a brush extension for your vacuum like the following:
Now you can vacuum the unit’s grill to remove any dust or dirt that has accumulated over time.
Cleaning the unit itself.
I know my tower fan gets extremely dusty over time so it does need a clean once and a while.
Cleaning the unit is very simple and all that is required is a cloth.
Brush the unit with your dry cloth.
You might be wondering if you should use anything with the cloth suck as solvents or cleaners to clean the tower fan?
Which leads us to…
What not to do when cleaning a Lasko tower fan.
Do not clean the unit with liquids/Solvents
To answer the above query, it is recommended not to use any detergents, solvents or liquids of any kind to clean your Lasko tower fan.
Do not take the unit apart in order to clean it.
To be honest, taking the unit apart to clean it kind of makes sense.
At least to me!
However, it is recommended by Lasko that you should not take the unit apart.
This is because they consider it dangerous to do this and also because you could cause damage to the unit itself.
The other thing you will want to consider is that if the tower fan is still under warranty then you will likely void the warranty if you do this.
Another cleaning option
Although it is not generally specifically mentioned by the manufacturer in the user manual as a way to clean your Lasko tower fan using compressed air is also another great way to clear the dust from your fan and probably the best way to clean a tower fan without taking it apart.
It also gets into the more harder to reach places that your vacuum and brush may not so is a great option, especially in conjunction with your vacuum and brush.
Before cleaning your tower fan consider your safety
Anything that uses electricity always carries an element of danger.
Though these things are mostly common sense you want to be aware of the following points in regards to safety.
Unplug the cord.
Even though you won’t be diving into the insides and electronics, its still important to unplug the cord. Be a safe human.
Don’t plug the fan in, near or around water.
If you like being alive, this is for you.
Though I’m sure you have this covered.
As above – do not take the fan apart
How often should you clean your tower fan?
It is recommended by Lasko that you clean your tower fan every 2-3 weeks.
Should I even bother cleaning it? What are the benefits?
Again, it is recommended that you clean your tower fan in the time frames given above in order to keep the tower fan working efficiently.
This helps prevent the build-up of dirt and dust which can play a part in causing the fan to work inefficiently.
